Aim of this Course / Target Group
This course is designed for individuals who are assigned roles within a workplace’s Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)—such as fire wardens, area wardens, or team leaders—and are responsible for responding to emergency situations.
It equips participants with the skills and confidence to lead, coordinate, and communicate during emergencies, ensuring the safety of others. Ideal for those working in offices, retail, industrial sites, or large facilities, where structured emergency procedures are essential.
Course Content
Participants will learn how to:
- Understand the structure and role of an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO)
- Identify types of workplace emergencies and appropriate responses
- Follow emergency procedures, alarms, and signals
- Safely evacuate or manage occupants during an emergency
- Communicate clearly with team members and emergency services
- Carry out ECO roles and responsibilities such as checking areas and accounting for people
- Work under pressure in emergency scenarios
- Conduct and participate in emergency drills and debriefs
Assessment Method
Knowledge based questionnaires and observation of practical demonstration
Pre-requisites
Must have basic English literacy skills
Academic Award & Recognition
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with the following Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment:
- PUAFER005 - Operate as part of an emergency control organisation

CTF Pricing For Eligible Customers
$56.00 - This subsidised rate is available to eligible companies under our bulk billing arrangement with the Construction Training Fund (CTF).
Individuals may still be eligible for the subsidy; however, they must submit their claims directly to CTF, as we are unable to claim on their behalf. For more information about the individual claim process, please contact the CTF directly.
CTF provides funding support to assist with the training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the CTF’s contribution in helping reduce training costs for eligible participants.
