Fire hose reels play a critical role in workplace fire safety — but only when they’re correctly inspected and maintained. This course equips you with the knowledge needed to identify, inspect, and test fire hose reels in line with industry standards and legal requirements.

Ideal for safety officers, facility managers, or workers responsible for the inspection and maintenance of fire hose reels.
Course Content
Participants will learn how to:
- Key legislation, regulations, and codes related to the inspection and testing of fire hose reels
- The components, operation, and common faults of fire hose reels
- Inspection and testing procedures in accordance with AS 1851
- Identifying non-compliance and equipment defects
- Documentation and reporting requirements
- Responsibilities for maintaining compliance in the workplace
Note: Practical competency must be demonstrated via a logbook of on-site activities submitted within 6 months after course completion.

Knowledge based questionnaires and logbook evidence submissions
Important Assessment Information
This unit includes a theory assessment completed during the course. To achieve full competency, participants must also complete an on-site logbook activity demonstrating practical inspection and testing of fire hose reels within 6 months of course completion.
Pre-requisites
Must have basic English literacy skills
Academic Award & Recognition
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with the following nationally recognised Statement of Attainment:
