Get the skills to safely control heavy loads from above with our Overhead & Gantry Crane Operator Course — delivered on-site for maximum relevance and real-world application.
This hands-on course teaches participants how to operate bridge or gantry cranes (with 3 or less powered motions) to move loads safely and efficiently across a variety of workplace environments — without requiring a high-risk licence.
Perfect for workplaces in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and construction where overhead cranes are used under supervision or within licensed load limits.
Course Content
The program addresses the following:
- Job planning, hazard identification and hazard control measures
- Operational inspections
- Safe load handling, lifting and slinging
- Emergency procedures
- Shut down procedures
- Weight chart
- Signals for overhead cranes
Assessment Method
Knowledge based questionnaires and practical demonstration
This course is only conducted in the workplace for corporate clients. In order to conduct this training and assessing on your worksite you will need to provide the following:
- A safe maintained bridge or gantry crane
- A training room to accommodate for up to 8 people
- A safe operating area
Pre-requisites
Must have basic English literacy skills
Academic Award & Recognition
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with the following nationally recognised Statement of Attainment:

CTF Pricing For Eligible Customers
$127.00 - This subsidised rate is available to eligible companies under our bulk billing arrangement with the Construction Training Fund (CTF).
Individuals may still be eligible for the subsidy; however, they must submit their claims directly to CTF, as we are unable to claim on their behalf. For more information about the individual claim process, please contact the CTF directly.
CTF provides funding support to assist with the training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the CTF’s contribution in helping reduce training costs for eligible participants.
